Kuma, this looks like a flower which I never seen it before, I'm just wondering what's taste of it? How are you going to cook with it?

Hi 小軍、
It's a artichoke bud.Last year I started to grow this,but it didn't produce buds. This year, it has produced some. It was my first time to eat this that day, I cooked it with salt and lemon juice in a pressure pan. It tasted like edible lily bulbs. I don't know wether you have tried to eat lily bulbs or not, though.

Last sunday, I found this "artichoke bud" in a foreign supermarket in HK, that remind me the one you planted. Yea, I got taste of lily bulb before, it is sometimes used in chinese cuisine also, I like it!

It's interesting! I didn't expect that other foreigners ate lily bulbs.We eat them as tempra and 茶碗蒸(
chawanmushi)or steamed egg custard.How do you cook them in HK?

Agree, same here!!! I'm glad to know the differences in cultures. Lily bulb can be usually used in stir-frying with vegetables chinese dishes. And dried lily bulbs can be used in boiling chinese soup.

I had tempra and 茶碗蒸 in japanese restaurants in HK, you know...? But they never got lily bulbs in these sort of dishes. So thanks for telling me about this!!
